The Beacon is an attempt to give a Zello channel a more "Radio" feel. Similar to the beacons you may find on Ham repeaters, the 50kUW repeater will sound off once an hour.
You will usually hear 50kUW in Morse code at the top of every hour. However, at 12, 3, 6, and 9 (AM / PM Arizona time) you may also catch news. I have access to various news feeds to try and cover both sides of the spectrum. No matter which side you think you're on, it's always good to know what the other side is saying. Other various transmissions may be sprinkled in from time to time as well.
Remember, if you are not a fan of the beacon, you can simply mute the beacon account on your side. There's no need to turn off the channel.

NOTE: I'm sorry about the 1 or 2 ads in the Fox News feed. It's something that I can't control. Only Fox News is doing it.
Also, I'm aware the Fox News feeds fail from time to time. When that happens, I need to reconfigure how I'm scraping the feed because they had made a change to their site. this happens once a month or so. Then 2 or 3 broken feeds pass before I realize it.
